This pamphlet is about Royal National Park, southern Sydney, New South Wales. It was established as The National Park in 1879, the first to be gazetted in the world. (The name was changed to Royal National Park following Queen Elizabeth's visit to Australia in 1954.) The pamphlet opens out to show a large map with details about the Park on one side, and photos and drawings with the history and information on the other side. It folds into six sections. This monograph was presented as a paper before the Royal Historical Society of Queensland on 19 March 1959. It was one of a series commemorating the Queensland Centenary Year which were published in a Special Centenary journal. This monograph has been reprinted to make state history more widely known to Queenslanders. Recent research by Cilento brought forth additional facts relating to the adventures of some of the fugitive white men who escaped from the Moreton Bay penal colony and lived with the early Aboriginal tribes of Queensland. This is the story of the 2/3rd Australian Infantry Battalion,16th Brigade, 6th Division. They saw action in the Middle East, Tobruk, Greece and New Guinea during World War 2 (WW2). They are one of the most decorated Battalions in Australian history. There is an Award list and an 2/3rd Infantry Battalion Nominal Roll at the rear of the book. The title "War Dance" comes from a tune played by the 2/3rd Bn Regimental Band in march time over six long years of war. It is often suggested that cancer and coronary heart disease can be reduced or even eliminated if only people would stop smoking cigarettes and eat fewer high-cholesterol foods. The evidence, however, shows that such views are simplistic and unrealistic. Instead, cancer and CHD are the product of many risk factors acting synergistically. Claims psychosocial factors (stress, personality) are six times as predictive as smoking, cholesterol level or blood pressure. Plots the 8-year struggle to build the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, plus the accident that plagued the opening of the world's first passenger railway, which killed statesman William Huskisson. The railway was the greatest engineering feat of its age. George and Robert Stevenson's "Rocket" became the most famous locomotive in history. Huskisson was one of the greatest statesmen of his generation but also accident prone. This pamphlet is about the history of Ayers Rock, now Uluru. The late Bill Harney was the first curator of Ayers Rock. Harney spent a lot of time with two old Aboriginals, Imalung and Kadakadeka, who were born and lived there. Harney's notes, which are reproduced in this booklet, are based on the information he received from these two Aborigines and describe the physical and mythological significance of them, together with their location. This is the catalog of the Two Worlds - One Sky art exhibition. It ran from 15th December to 4 February 1996 at the Lewers Bequest and Penrith Regional Art Gallery, and The National Art Museum, Riga, Latvia on 7 June 1996 - 6 July 1996. The artists came from Latvia to Australia as migrants to make a new start. Venita Salnajs arrived in Sydney in 1949 and Reinis Zusters in Fremantle in 1950. In her Preface Venita Salnajs says that the joint exhibition not only celebrates a shared artistic life with Reinis for almost 30 years, but also is the celebration of their national duality.
