HOW TO ORDER
Locate the book in our database search (on our home page) and place it in the shopping basket. Follow the checkout instructions. An option is available for you to receive a quote for the total cost, including postage.
Alternatively, email us a list of the books you wish to purchase. Include the list name, item number, author, short title, and price. We will reply with an email quote, including postage and packing. We also notify you if a book has been recently sold. Books will be posted when we receive your payment.
If you locate a book in our booklists, first check it is still available by looking up our database, which is updated at least weekly.
DISCOUNTS
We currently offer 20% discount on the total price (including postage) if you order two or more books. This applies only if you order directly from us, and not via third-party websites (such as Abebooks or Books and Collectibles, which charge us a hosting fee for our books).
SECONDHAND BOOKS AND THE GST
We have currently decided to voluntarily drop our registration for Goods & Services Tax (GST). Therefore GST is not included in the prices of books sold to Australian customers. However, if you are registered for GST, the Tax Office has determined that you can assume GST has been paid on secondhand goods. Of course, books can often still be claimed as tax deductions.
POSTAGE AND PACKING (AND THE MYTH OF "FREE POSTAGE")
All our books are expertly wrapped and placed in padded envelopes, or in envelopes and boxes containing bubble-wrap. Postage is charged at cost. We generally post books by surface mail within Australia (3 to 7 days delivery). Express Post is also available. For overseas customers, all books are posted by Air Mail via Australia Post. We do not recommend sea mail from Australia as delivery time is often three or four months, and delivery problems are difficult to track.
Some booksellers offer free postage, and as a selling strategy this seems to boost sales. It is not widely known that these booksellers often actually add the postage partly or wholly onto the price of the book, so that postage is not truly "free". We prefer not to adopt this deceptive strategy.

PAYING US
1. VISA, MASTERCARD
We accept Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards (but not other debit cards). Supply the card type (Visa or Mastercard), the 16-digit card number, the expiry date, the exact name on the card, and the 3-digit security code. We no longer accept Amex cards.
Secure Payment
For maximum internet security, send credit card details as follows. We use the Biblio secure server. Go to our home page (www.bookhome.com.au) and click on the link "Click to Enter Biblio", and follow instructions. You do not need to set up a free Biblio account, although we recommend that option.
Credit card payments can also be made using the PayPal secure server (www.paypal.com). Open up a free account with PayPal (linked to your cheque or credit card), and then send the money from your card to our PayPal account (see below).
2. PAYPAL
We are a verified PayPal user. There is a link to the PayPal home page from our website home page. Log into your PayPal account and choose Send Money. Send the money from your PayPal account to our email address at PayPal: books@bookhome.com.au (in the name Bookhome). If you prefer to receive an official PayPal request or invoice, please email us, and we will send you one.
3. DIRECT DEPOSIT
We accept electronic payment direct to our bank account. If you choose this method, we will provide our account details. Sorry, we do not accept direct deposit from overseas on cheap books; the banks involved charge high fees, which makes the transaction uneconomic.
VISITING OUR SHOP
From June 2005, we have traded as an online business only. Therefore, sorry - visits to our shop to browse our stock are not available at this time.
REFUND POLICY & LOST BOOKS
If you are not satisfied that a book has been correctly described, and you notify us within a reasonable time (no more than three weeks after you would normally receive the book by post), we will issue a full (100%) refund. We may request that you return the book first.
We will also refund your payment if the book is lost in the mail. This happens rarely. If you have not received your parcel, first check with your local post office. They may have tried to deliver your book, but you were out, and they forgot to leave a collection card. Similarly, if your address is a Post Office Box, the postal staff may have forgotten to place a collection card in your box. Unclaimed and misdirected parcels will often eventually be returned to us.
